Inktober

For the month of October, I decided that I want to give Inktober a try. I’ve always been interested in it, but I have never really been able to commit to the idea of drawing every single day. I’ve always thought the experience would be great and I think something that I lack is drawing frequently- I don’t really sketch stuff out that much or do quick small drawings. However, I think the only way to really improve in art is to draw consistently and to keep creating things. Personally, I’ve found the most growth when I am continuously working on something and drawing a lot.
I’ve never tried Inktober before, but I have seen a plethora of Instagram posts featuring the ink and marker pieces that were products of the challenge. I’ve done some ink drawings in October in past years, but it lacked the continuity of the challenge. I think that part of the reason I have shied away from the challenge is due to time constraints or having to think of something new to draw every day that I would be satisfied with.
My goal for Inktober is to just try to draw a bit each day. It doesn’t have to be big, it can just be some small sketches, or even continuous work on a more time consuming and larger ink piece. I think that through this, it can help my technical skills when it comes to drawing. I also hope it can help with my problem of not wanting to start a piece in fear of messing up since I would be getting used to having to start something new frequently.
